i haven't played it in a couple weeks.  too busy working.  There's something about it I miss, but there's also the problem for me was that I've fallen asleep playing it too.  I think most of that boring time was shopping or running.  If they had added that search function for the retainers that would have eased hours of frustration.  I've sat there for like 4 hours and a lot of the jerks are not putting their retainers in the correct ward.  Repairs have been a big time waster too. After 5-6  leves my weap durability is down to 50%+ already.  Then comes the constant missing.  You need full weapon repair everyday and if you can't repair it, you have leave it up in you're bazaar for repairs and hope someone does it, by the time you come back home.  Yet, I don't want to leave my pc on all day long.  This also goes for old equip you want to sell.  It needs to be repaired up to 100%

My list of probs that need to be fixed Asap are:
-if you're not going to have an AH, then add the search function
-fix the input lag when in battles, it's not fun, guessing if it's going to do the move you wanted.
-activate the damn chocobos/ airships already if they're going to be a dick about anima regen.
-just give us 2-3 bars at the bottom to equip our skills on.  toggling the hotkey bars is stupid.  Yes I know that's what macros are for, but
really, if they had implemented assigning skills better, it should have been a no-brainer drag and drop scheme.  Or hey have 2 bars and each bar length could have 20 slots.  If they're catering to gamepads then, this doesn't hurt them at all.
-durability loss...if we're going to have this degrade so fast.  weapon dmg and accuracy should not degrade until it hits zero...why?  Because it's not F'n fun to consistently worry about this every couple of leves.

That's just stuff IMO that need fixing right away.  Beta should have been ongoing for months until they were comfortable.  I don't think the devs wanted to release it like this, but I'm sure there must have been pressure to release it early from the higher ups.  I'll give it a couple more tries.  It's too pretty to give up on so early.  There's so much potential.  I really don't want it to fail or be another AOC or Aion.  I just can't turn a blind eye to things that take away the fun...FUN!  not micromanaging and worrying about everything..FFUUUUNNN!

Anyways, rant over.

right now a big problem is that they shut out cornelia.  I can't even make my alt.  guess we'll see what happens on the 30th.

maj you can pretty much start off with anything.  you'll be able to mix and match skills from different jobs onto your main basically making your own class.

ok so most of my time was testing out graphics and machanics.  2 PCs almost identical, one with an nvidia 9800gtx, other with an ati 3870.
Tried every setting from ugly to best, and the resulting frame rates were the same... give or take a 2-3 frame difference.  In the end I
left everything on high DoF/ AC off at 1600x900 windowed.  Full screen does help a little tho.  A lot of people with newer cards had the same crappy frame rates in towns and better on the field.  We should be used to that  ;)  This was beta tho' and I just don't think it was
optimized well and it may never be.  Hopefully drivers can help a little in the future.   Also don't have RAM with different timings/speed installed.

Pay attention to detail:
Character creation has more depth than you may initially think.  Each base face for a race changes the rest of customization options like eyes, nose, mouth, scars/tattoos/tails.

For anyone that hasn't tried the beta, everything is pretty much through the main menu.  If you're scratching your head on trying to check or activate something...check the menu.

eh, i don't see a problem with keeping this site.  Just make a separate ffxiv board.  name of the ls can be added to the top with another picture.  Don't have to replace the current one.

Also, at this point, I'm fine with staying on cornelia.

ah fun with after fx.
good vid for those that couldn't understand it.

i'd like to go to a less popular villain too, but not so unpopular it's barely populated and we'd eventually get forced into a server merge.

right click on the desktop, there should be a "catalyst control center", if not go to properties/adapter tab (i think) and see if you can get into it from there.

Also, this is very important which can greatly
affect your score.  Go into ati control
Panel and adjust your 3d settings.
It's a slider bar that goes from performance, medium, and quality.  Run the test on performance first and if that's acceptable, push it higher.  You really shouldn't be getting such
A low score with your setup

June 07, 2010, 06:08:06 PM
sorry to hear rey.  I don't know anything about about the ps2 dialup.  at  least now you can connect with the pc.

Tip.  after you're done updating, copy your whole ffxi folder an external or just somewhere on your
HDD (if you have the room) and keep it locked away until the day comes you have to reinstall.

if that ever happens, you reinstall with the basic discs, (easier to do it this way, because of registry stuff pol wants in order to start), then overwrite the ffxi folder with the one you backed up.  maybe you're user settings too.  anyway, just ask if that day ever comes.

lol and ya, what zeri said.  vid settings are in the ffxi config folder under the start menu/pol.
unless you use windower.  ;D

Hmm. Rey should look into at least dsl with your
Phone carrier. Ps3 doesn't do modem.  I don't think
Dsl costs that much more than dial up.

*reminds himself to remind ryu.

Anyone else interested to play Vindictus?
It was originally "Mobinogi Hereos" but change the name.
It will be free to play and looks like a lot of fast paced fun.  There's a lot of  youtube videos if you search mobinogi hereos.
http://vindictus.nexon.net/

this vid shows how there's more blocking and use of environment rather than just a hack and slash.
oh and the clothes get messed too!

If your pc can play 3D games in general you should be fine.
It's using the old HL source engine.

XD It does say that they're also adjusting the placement and level of the mobs to make it a place to be formidable to 75 and beyond!

Got excited for a moment, but then, now there's still no point to this. GJ SE
