General Posts / I was gonna come back buuuuuuuuuuut...
January 17, 2012, 08:47:36 PM
I decided to come back and since this time I could actually afford it for a while I was rather looking forward to it. Alas, SE doesn't want me to play I suppose. Took me a day to get all my passwords and account info straightened out. I finally log into PoL and a thing pops up telling me I have some overdue charges(of course) and I proceed with the clicking and it eventually shows a link to the SE management page for me to pay the fee. I go through the steps of setting up an account with the ClickandBuy and what do ya know... the site is broken or something. I can't ever enter my info. Keeps telling me that it can't process the action or something similar. I'm overly frustrated with this. I figured everything would be easier now that they allow you to do your payment stuff online, but that is definitely not the case, at least for me. I guess this is just a way for the universe to tell me to GTFO and not play. I was really looking forward to coming back on. ;;

General Posts / So... what's up d00ds?
January 07, 2011, 04:53:12 AM
I have a lot of free time on my hands right now and was considering turning my account back on and server swapping back to Phoenix. I don't even remember the server I was on before. *shrug*

Anyway... the last time I was on was when the second Aby scenario was coming out. Is it hard getting into Aby groups? I only did it once and it was interesting. And now there's AF3? Is that obtained through Aby zones also? I know I could look it up but this is easier. heh

Then there's HNMLS stuff. Anyone in a good LS that's accepting?

General Posts / Character names go here!
September 22, 2010, 06:35:41 PM
It would make things easy for everyone if you'd post your character name here so people can find you with ease. For the beginning it might be hard to catch someone on to get a name, etc.
My character's name is Valkyrja Neikan. Hope to see you all on Cornelia! ^^

I want to continue playing with you all on XIV. On release day (or for those of you who reserved the CE like myself) we should pick a server to play on together. Just a thought! ^^

No, this isn't a ghost... no, this isn't someone posing as this awesome guy either. I -am- coming back. After a much needed break from FFXI, I've decided it's about time to revisit the lovely world of Vana. Now... I'm currently on Asura server (Tenno is on here still. So I have to switch Mali (Ergo he's named now. Malikai was taken on Asura) and all his mules back to Phoenix. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE LEVEL CAP INCREASE!! zomg~ ok -sigh- it has EVERYTHING to do with it.
I don't know when this is gonna happen. I have another two months with my WoW account. I don't play often anymore. More or so to raid on my nights and that's about it. SOMEONE PAY FOR MY CRAP! I kid I kid... not really. Ok, yeah...
So... how's Lucky been since I've been gone? It's been over a year since I was even on XI and much longer for Phoenix. Is BC still around? How about Dynamix? I guess I'll need to find a new LS to join for that sort of stuff or reapply. I'm looking forward to coming back to this game and looking forward to seeing all of you again. I didn't want to come back to FFXI without being able to come back to MY server. I played for five years on Phoenix. Fuck Asura!
Talk to you guys later.
P.S. Yes, my lovely Kashi is coming back with me!!

General Posts / More news on XIV
August 06, 2009, 01:41:16 PM
We have a little more insight into how XIV is going to play out now.
Sorcerer, Fighter, Crafter, and Gatherer are the classes announced so far, sorta.
As a Fight you can have a choice between two sub classes. BUT, it's not like how XI was and you can choose any you want. You can only choose between the classes designated as sub for your main class. Fight can choose something like Archer or Swordsman. Sorcerer can choose to sub Enchanter or Warlock. Crafter - Cook or Blacksmith. Gatherer - Gardener or Fisherman.
I am a little confused as to how that's going to work for those last two classes, but I think I get it. Since the game is based on weapons in how you character plays the game, I could see a fisherman possibly using items fished up to wield or something to that effect.
"Gamut" is a sub class for something. I can't seem to find what it's a sub for though.
Eorzea is a continent, not the world. I can't seem to find the article I read that stated the world's name, but for now it seems that the game is going to be played on Eorzea only. I'm sure it's going to have something to do with DLC or expansions.

"Eorzea is home to five races which, although they have different names, look quite a bit like the races in Final Fantasy XI. You have the Hyuran (Hume in FFXI), Miqo'te (Mithra), Lalafell (Tarutaru), Elezen (Elvaan) and Roegadyn (Galka), and as you'd expect, you can fully customize the look your character no matter what race he or she's a member of. Hyuran are further divided into "midlanders" and "highlanders," and Miqo'te are divided into the diurnal Sunseekers and the nocturnal Moonkeepers, though how this affects gameplay is still under wraps. "

"FFXIV's "armory system" is what defines your character's growth. The game has four broadly defined "job skills" -- Fighter, Sorcerer, Gatherer and Crafter -- each of which has a variety of more specific classes (Swordsman, Blacksmith, Caster, etc) attached to it. You can change your class instantly simply by changing your weapon and armor, and as you fight and complete quests with that equipment, your character will advance in that class. You're free to concentrate entirely on one class, or try to balance yourself out among all the job skills. "
That's a lot how FFV worked. This sounds fantastic!!

"This armory system isn't exactly like the "job" concept that most Final Fantasy games work under. "The way I see it, the player can define how his own job works," says Komoto. "For example, if you have the Swordsman skill, that's enough to let you play by yourself, but if you've also raised your Sorcerer skill enough to unlock that skill's healing magic, that'll make solo play a lot easier for you. You can carry enough equipment around at any given time to change your style freely, and the system makes this easy by letting you change sets of equipment all at once."

"This skill and class system largely replaces the traditional RPG concepts of levels and experience points in FFXIV. Instead of worrying about EXP, "I think the main thrust will be raising the skills you have at hand," as Komoto puts it. You'll probably still have to engage in good old-fashioned MMORPG grinding to improve your character, though."

"FFXIV's quest system involves visiting Eorzea's guild and receiving work passes from the guildmaster. Other players can cooperate with you, and everyone can put their passes together to involve the entire gang in a sort of mini-campaign. The available passes change at regular intervals, and completing a single quest from one of these passes will be a relatively short process -- Komoto estimates it at around half an hour or so. "You don't need a set number of people for each quest," he said. "That you can work out by yourself with the other players in the guild, since they're all there for the same goal."

Much has been made about the recent announcement of Final Fantasy XIV Online for Playstation 3 and PC yesterday. But what will happen to Square-Enix's first MMO game, Final Fantasy XI?

During Square-Enix's Final Fantasy XIV Online live blog this afternoon, some light was shed on the subject.

Speaking through a translator, Square-Enix reps confirmed they'll be supporting FFXI with "new content" for at least one more year.

It's still unclear whether this means general updates or expansions. One would think Square-Enix wants to populate their new MMO with everyone currently playing Final Fantasy XI eventually, though.

"These are different races. The world is different then FFXI. The reason they made them look similar is so the people who were playing XI can choose a similar type of race to the one they were already playing. "

"The development for FFXIV started 4 or 5 years ago, and it's gone on alongside FFXI development. They plan to continue with one year more of content for FFXI. "
"Yes, they plan on using the things they learned in FFXI, which was designed for party battles and was adapted over time for solo play. Solo play will be integrated earlier in FFXIV this time around. "

"Question - Will there be a simultaneous worldwide release?
Answer - Yes, at the launch it will be worldwide for PS3 and PC. Four languages - Japanese, English, German and French."

"Question - Will there be a plan for taking feedback from users and integrating it into the game over time, much like FFXI today?
Answer - Yes. They plan to do just that. The beta will also be important."

"Originally FFXI was designed for PS2 and moved on to PC and 360. People were wondering why they didn't just port it to new generation machines. But it just wasn't feasible to move all the content. They used that time to make a new experience instead. "

"Question - What are the highlights of the game they would like to emphasize? What are they doing differently from FFXI?
Answer - The key word is growth of the character. Not just high quality of graphics and storytelling but new game systems that allow characters to grow and change in a dynamic way. The job system will be 'quite different' than the one in FFXI."
Now that was something I was really hoping for!

"Also, FFXI is still party-based, but with FFXIV they want to make content for many different types of play styles - people who want to play in long stretches or short bursts, etc."

"Question - FFXI fans want to know if they will be able to move their characters from FFXI to FFXIV.
Answer - It is a different world, a different game. So you will not be able to do that, no. But as they said earlier you can create a similar character.
Also, FFXIV will not be using the Play Online system. But they want to be able to move friend lists from FFXI over."
Finally! ugh... PoL suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks.

General Posts / Chrome or Firefox?
October 18, 2008, 01:39:01 AM
What's your pick? I recently started using Chrome a bunch and I'm really taking a liking to it.

I get tired of firing up Firefox (pardon the pun) all the time when benching and I don't want to reopen like, 5 windows and 30 tabs either. So, I just pop open Chrome when I need to look something up between running programs. One thing I've really come to like is the ability to move tabs from one window to another window by just dragging. Firefox needs this!

Help Desk / Sandy 5-1~
February 01, 2008, 05:05:10 AM
I really need to get Sandy 5-1 done on Tenno. Just need a few MNKs to kick some ass for me. I'd like to get this done so I can get Rank6 and start Zilart stuffs.
Terra needs to do Dragon fight for Windy... I'm going to switch nations once I hit R6. So that I can do all the missions with Terra and also get another nation done.
Maybe do it this weekend. Like, Saturday or something!?
Let me know if ya can!

Announcements / O-Hat run and others...
June 29, 2007, 03:24:57 AM
So, now that Malikai has finally reached the higher lvls... currently at 71, I need mah O-hat. I also need one for Tennotsukai. I don't know if anyone else is need of them, but if you are please let me know and we can help you get one along with mine. I don't care when we do it or anything. I think we should set up a time in the near future.

Just let me know if you're willing to help me out and when you are free. I'll set a date in the future that allows for more people to prepare and give warning instead of just logging on and expecting to have it somehow.

The other thing was just getting Sandy 5-1 done for Tennotsukai. I just need a few MNKs. You don't have to worry about getting good gear or anything... just grab some knuckles and Hundred Fists some skeles! (I just tried to auto-translate HF ; ; )
I'm trying to get 5-1 done with soon so that I can switch nations to Windy since I have done Sandy already on Mali. Orzo, my cousin and new to the LS, is Windy and I was going to try and get him R5 fast and get him Airship. ^^

Thank you^^
