Do you rename your characters in RPGs?
Option 1: I change all the names!

Just another random poll, since I haven't put one up in a while.
I usually use defaults, though I change a few of them. Like, I tend to rename Red XIII as just Red. I know some other people make him Nanaki.
On a related note, in some games where you can name generics, I tend to use names of friends or people I know.
If I change names, then I get confused when I look up the walkthrough on line ;)
It honestly depends on the game.
FF9 - I change the lead char, leave the others.
FF7 - Leave them all the way they pop up on default
Breath of Fire series - Rename only the main char
Dragon Quest series - Always change char names

DQ1 you can name the Hero
DQ2 you can name the Hero
DQ3 you can rename all four characters
DQ4 you can rename all four characters
DQ5 You can rename the Hero
DQ6 You can rename any character and change their jobs
DQ7 You can rename the Hero
DQ8 You can rename the Hero
In DQ3, there's no default names (for that matter, no default characters other than the hero) and you could change your nonmain characters at will. At least in the original version, which I still have laying around.
As for most of the rest, there's not really a default name for some of them. Like in DQ8. You have to put in some sort of name!
Hm yeah it really depends on the game. If the lead is a guy I may or may not change it. I do name the heroine after myself sometimes. If you're given the choice to rename the others I do it for fun. It depends on my mood at the time too.
