I just saw this on the SE website, and I literally was shocked... this is possibly the most incredible thing they ever did!

To sum this up... you will be able to set your level to match anyone in your party. Your gear will adjust itself downward to match your level, losing stuff like +/- Enmity, haste, etc.
This will also apply to level capped events and BCNMs and such.. no more needing to buy level 40 equipment, you can wear your AF! (though, honestly, a lot of level 40 equipment will probably be better than the scaled-down AF). No more zoning into a level-capped area and having your equipment fall off!
To be honest, I'm totally amazed over this update. I'm so looking forward to it! ;D

Now I can get Zerila to duo with my BST from 10-75! What a wonderful idea.
Time to sell all of my capped-mission gear... or at least most of it.

One of the downsides to it is the fact that when your level is reduced you won't be able to get any skill.. but if you're already 75 that's not a big issue now is it?

Nerces, if you really want to duo, that's great! BST is a lot of fun. It's been a while since I did the lower levels of it. I'm starting to get an itch to level a new job... maybe Scholar? It might be fun to do BST/??? and SCH/BST as a duo :)
Or maybe Thief... We could get tons of drops on the way to 75! And THF/BST with bolts could be a lot of fun.

It seems to be it's geared more for very low leveling (10-30) where gear hardly matters anyways. In the mid levels, the reduction on your gear will probably make most of it stink compared to more proper gear for the level.
That's more or less what I was thinking. I can sell off my Bone and Beetle sets, but I should keep anything for 40-60 cap that I already have :)
So, I don't think it will harm the economy as much as people are thinking on some message boards... It will be a great thing for lower levels when all this gear goes on the AH at fire sale prices, but there will always be a demand for mid-level HQ gear.
It's not like people will never buy that kind of low level gear again. I mean, if you do decide to level a new job (and I think the system will encourage some people to, since they can level with their higher level friends that they trust, ya know?) they'll be stuck with Lizard and Beetle and such anyways. Honestly, there aren't that many people leveling lowbies anyways so I don't think the market will be affected too much.
Half the time I just keep buying and reselling low level gears anyways, lol.
It should also be noted that some high level gear will scale down better than others, based on what they've revealed so far. +Stats, +Accuracy, +Attack, etc. will scale down while things like Haste, Evasion, and special traits may not. It may be a good idea to take a look at what kind of gears might be good choices for synch and what may not.
Good: (Maybe)
Pahluwan (lots of +accuracy and +ranged accuracy)
God Armor (massive +stat)
Denali (quite a lot of + stats)
Blessed (MP and +MND, no Haste transfer tho)
Haubergeon
Bad:
Dark Staff (+hMP won't transfer) and other +hMP gear
Multihit weapons (Joyeuse, Mercurial Sword)
Evasion Gears (SH mostly)
Enmity Gears (PLD AF, tho the HP and stats are still handy)
I bet you're hoping that all your bard gear will be scale-down unfriendly.
Hey guys... I finally will be coming back a bit. Both my best friends have moved away so I really have no social life now other then my girlfriend, and we both work 35-40 hours a week and she has full time school too so... Anywho, I just saw this post and it got me rather excited about coming back. I hope to see you all in game sometime soon, and sorry I said I was coming back a few months ago and didn't. My friend found out the next day he got accepted to the masters program at OSU so we kinda started grinding out all the games we had been putting off beating. (._.) I missed you guys.

Only problem is Eva, that all the good CHR gear at high levels is scaled down to be comparable to NQ stuff of low level, and all the +Charm stuff doesn't transfer over, so you're just like a n00b BST again without Leave. :-\
Still, it's fun being able to just poke around with low level people again.
So I guess Apollo's Staff is nulled pretty harshly as well? I actually ran on minimal CHR gear + an Apollo's, so that probably would not have had a major effect. However, not having Leave would still be annoying~

The special qualities of Light/Apollo's wouldn't trigger at all below level 51. You'd get like, maybe +1 all stats or something.
