News / Idyllic Vana'diel Initiative
September 05, 2014, 08:31:46 PM
Two major campaigns are coming starting September 10 where we gain a plethora of special things.

First, during the Idyllic Vana'diel Initiative, which runs until the 17th, we get bonuses to Campaign, double exp, some freebies, the FFXIV/DQ10 crossover event, lower Wildskeeper Reive KI prices and faster respawns, the Abyssea Campaign, and the Alter Ego Extravaganza!

In addition, the Return Home to Vana'diel Campaign is coming back!  Sept 10-17, if you've ever played FFXI, you'll be able to play again, FREE!  And if you want to come back to stay, Sept 10-23, the cost of Seekers of Adoulin and the Adoulin Edition are reduced drastically.

Hope to see some of you around.

News / August 18
August 18, 2014, 09:05:25 AM
So, recent goodies in FFXI?

Alluvion Skirmishes have been released.  These Nyzul-reminiscent areas have you fighting some powerful opponents in order to gain new high delay, high damage weapons which can be augmented with stones found within.

You can see the TP values for party members and your pets (without using outside help!), and you can see MP/TP values for alliance members as well.

With the synthesis history feature, you can simply select the synth you wish to repeat from a list.  It'll even show you what ingredients you lack!  And you can Favorite recipes to keep them forever in the list.
With equipment sets, you can define and quickly swap to a set of gear using just one command.  Right now there's 20 customizable slots.
And there's no more complaining about not having a warp:

Recharging Warp Ring!

Adoulin missions are also coming along nicely, although not quite finished yet.  And Inner Court of Ra'Kaznar was recently released as well.

General Posts / Remember When...
July 31, 2014, 01:08:21 AM
Oh look.  It's one of those threads where we old players ramble about our FFXI experiences.  All sorts of things the newbies of today will never get to experience!  I'll get us started off.

I'm sure many of you remember the old monster trains.  Goblin Smithies trained to the Yhoator Jungle zone, killing all the parties on the way back!  What about the evil Wingrats trains in Garlaige Citadel?  Or those evil crawler or beetle trains in Crawlers' Nest.  Or the crab trains in Kuftal Tunnel (and occasionally, Guivre!).

Or, remember when endgame gear included items like Optical Hat, Haubergeon, or Scorpion Harness?

What about 18 person alliances doing 30-cap Promyvion climbs?

Then there was the infamous "Rol-Mart", the huge crowd of people bazaaring in Rolanberry Fields outside of Jeuno to avoid the Jeuno tax.  (Bazaar taxes are totally gone now, and Port Jeuno is the usual spot.)

How about the times wasted sitting at Fafnir pop, 28 minutes of boredom, 2 minutes of stress when the window was ready?  Only to lose the claim half the time to a stunbot someone else was using?

And once upon a time, the foods of choice were items like Meat Mithkabobs, Melon Pies, and Roast Mushrooms...

Speaking of Optical Hats, Hakutaku runs were always one of those things you had to suffer through.

Let's not even get started about the craziness that was old Dynamis...

Looking back now, so many things have changed, and these types of experiences are long gone.  Almost kind of miss them.   ..Almost.

News / Sunbreeze 2014
July 29, 2014, 10:42:02 PM

Yep, it's that time again.  Fireworks, the music everyone loves, and the cheesy event that gives you pretty outfits!

There's a couple of other goodies this year too, like learning the ability to call Mumor to your aid.

Hopefully some of you will stop into FFXI and check it out!

In other news, another update's coming up soon, that'll allow you to define up to 20 different equipment sets and equip them using a single macro command line.  New Skirmishes and missions are coming too.

News / 12th Anniversary of FFXI!
May 17, 2014, 06:25:15 AM

Yep, it's that time again!

The celebration of FFXI's anniversary is going on!

Besides new exp and capacity rings, there's also a war going on!

The moogles and the goblins are fighting, and you can contribute in a fun mini-game!  Trust ciphers, moogle suits, and goblin suits are around for those that partake in the festivities.

Hopefully you'll stop by and visit!

General Posts / Fashionable Lockstyle
March 02, 2014, 01:21:19 PM
With the new update, there will be a new command, /lockstyle.

QuoteUsing this command keeps the player's appearance the same even after changing equipment. However, it will be automatically disabled under the following conditions:

Zoning in to a different area
Equipping equipment that affects character motions, such as weapons
Being the recipient of an attack that removes one's equipment
    Logging out

This allows you to wear fashionable armor of your choice.

So what kind of outfits would you pick to choose from?  Long forgotten sets like abjuration or assault pieces?  Holiday event wear like Dream Robe or swimsuits?  Why don't you share some of your ideas?

  • Skirmish III, featuring Skirmish+2 weapons and Skirmish+1 armor
  • New zones including Outer Ra'Kaznar
  • Trust NPCs:  Run around with heroes like Naja, Prishe, or Shantotto

For those of you that haven't been around, hope things are going well for you!

May 15, 2015:  The update changed this significantly and most of what I had here doesn't apply now.  Posting a U.S. time adjusted version of the chart.

Vanquish ---:  Defeat 20 experience-yielding mobs of --- type.
Spoils (Seals) : Get 3 seals from defeating enemies.
Gain Experience:  Get 5000 experience from defeating enemies.
Weapon Skill Kills:  Defeat 20 experience-yielding mobs with weapon skills.
Magic is Murder: Defeat 20 experience-yielding mobs with magic.

Unlike before, there are now six four-hour time periods.  The first completion yields a Copper Voucher.

News / Return Home to Vana'diel
November 27, 2013, 07:42:33 PM
So maybe you haven't played FFXI for a while.  Years, even.  Maybe you're curious how much has changed while you were gone.

*start cheesy upbeat infomercial music*

Well, worry no longer!

SE is doing a special Return Home to Vana'diel campaign from December 11 to December 23.  During it, if you've ever had an FFXI account, you'll be able to play again, for free!  In addition, you'll even be able to get a free trial of ALL the expansions!

Pretty crazy, ya?

Bit more info here.

News / Special Three Day Campaign
October 11, 2013, 05:33:22 PM
Dunno how many of y'all actually pay attention to this still, but thought I'd mention it because there wasn't much warning about it:

Today through Sunday, there's a special thing going on.  First, double exp (doesn't count for Abyssea) for you and your fellows.  Also, certain KCNM and HKCNM battlefields are paying out special items.  Things like abjurations, +2 items for Abyssea, scrolls like Utsu Ni, etc.  Thought I'd mention it!

News / Abyssea Campaign and Sunbreeze Festival
August 10, 2013, 12:54:26 AM
Currently in FFXI there's a special Abyssea promotion going on.  You can get free atmas, a free lunar abyssite, a bunch of free traverser stones and a lot of cruor.

Good chance for people to get freebies for mules they maybe haven't done anything on.

It should be noted they're also giving away all the Abyssea expansions, if for some reason you haven't been playing for a while and don't have them, now's your chance!

It should be noted this promotion lasts until Oct 11.

In other news, The Sunbreeze Festival is going on.  I know it's the favorite event for a lot of you, and there's a new set of brown swimsuits this year!

News / Double Exp / Double Salvage Plans

Double exp until Sunday.

Twice as many plan drop slots until the 16th.  (Edit:  Extended two weeks.)

Any questions?

News / FFXI's 11th Anniversary
May 21, 2013, 12:15:43 AM
While I'm pretty sure most of you are aware, I thought I'd mention it proper.

The 11th Anniversary Celebration is going on.  Undecennial Ring, Chocobo Shield, and Moogle Guard are all new items you can nab, and if you missed the Dinner Jacket, Novennial attire, or Decennial attire, you can get those as well.

And of course, there's Bonanza sales going on too.

You still have a few days to enjoy the festivities.  And don't freak out at all the creepy moogles with shades in town..

News / 11th Anniversary Mog Bonanza
May 14, 2013, 08:57:35 PM
Yep, another Bonanza is coming up.  May 16th!  Start clearing inventory now!

In addition, there will be Undecennial Rings, perfect for feeding exp to Dyna trials or Rune Fencer/Geomancer.

Me again!

Delve and Fracture are the popular pasttimes at the moment on FFXI, so thought I'd mention that we can try and get people the 6 KIs required to buy all the gear from it.  Also had several point farm runs going on, people want those overpowered new weapons.

Also thought I'd mention, I'd like to get some people Oneiros Grips for the Refresh.  Bit painful to farm the Dynamis-Jeuno NMs for the pop, but with enough it wouldn't be TOO bad.  It's not a guaranteed drop, but is relatively common.

Polls / Legendary Weapons
April 19, 2013, 06:45:14 PM
There's lots of legendary weapons out there.  Relic weapons from Dynamis, Mythic weapons from Aht Urghan, Empyrean weapons from Abyssea, or Pulse weapons from Voidwatch/Legion/Meebles*.  So how many do you own?

*The weapons that have auras when you engage.  Things like Sagasinger, Borealis, Coruscanti, etc.

Polls / Yell Spamming
April 18, 2013, 05:06:02 AM
Got the idea for this one after watching someone spam a shout like four times a minute.

Obviously, if you don't spam enough people may not see the shout (unless they're using a site to look at shouts), but it's easy to just become aggravating.

So where's the limit?

(Oh, and thought I'd add, if the shout is updated because someone joins, that doesn't count.  Like if it was 15/18 looking for WHM BLM BLU and then next shout is 16/18 looking for WHM BLM.)

Did everyone enjoy the double exp?  Working hard on your Rune Fencers and Geomancers?

Thought I would mention that there's been some interest in doing Einherjar, if people are looking for stuff from that.

Also, probably wouldn't hurt to organize some Seekers stuff with the LS, like some Lair Reive clearing or etc.

Finally, since Cravy wanted to be on the front page...

News / Double Exp (Again)
April 02, 2013, 07:04:01 PM
Meant to put this up a bit earlier, but got distracted.

They're doing it again!

It starts Thursday morning, April 4th, and goes until Sunday morning, April 7.

Apparently fellows didn't benefit last time, but get the double exp this time.  And as usual, Abyssea and things that give exp in other ways like Besieged don't reap the benefit.

With the two new jobs released, it's a good way to speed up their leveling.

Big update tomorrow.
Edit:  They changed the update to Wednesday morning.

And on Wednesday (27th), Seekers of Adoulin goes live.

Have fun with the massive downloads.

Polls / FFXI Less Popular Pasttimes

Time for another random poll.

FFXI has a lot of strange pasttimes that many players don't really take part in.  How many of these have you done?

Hello Lucky fans!  Couple of things:

1) There's still a week left to buy Mog Bonanza Marbles, if you haven't yet!

2) Seekers of Adoulin is coming out in a few weeks, so make sure you're ready for that!

3) There's a few ppl in LS looking for Salvage groups, if anyone is interested.  (Not me, by the way!)

(Random Salvage II picture.)
